Hi, my name is Kirra and if you haven’t read any of my blog posts already, I am 10 years old and my family is traveling Australia for a year. In this post, you will learn all about our adventure to the AMAZING AquaSplash in Southport, QLD, Australia. I hope you enjoy reading!
***Because I was involved with all the fun, my mom took all of the pictures.***
“YEEEESSSSS!!!!!” I shouted! The woman at the desk handed me a pink headband. I love pink! We had to wear these headbands to show where we could go on the AquaSplash! My dad and I got pink headbands to show that we could go anywhere. Ellie and Quinn got red headbands to show they had to stay with dad. The lady handed us our red life jackets and we were good to go!
The AquaSplash is a ginormous inflatable bouncy play-structure on the Broadwater in the Gold Coast. Big white barriers enclose AquaSplash to keep the sea-life out of the water where the structure floats.
First, we went to the giant slide. The slide was about 20 feet high! It was so big that at least two people needed to be on it at once! Ellie and I climbed up to 20-foot slide to the top! It was a very long way down!!! I could tell Ellie was getting scared so I told her that we could go on the count of 3. I counted, “1, 2, 3!” We both raced down the slide as fast as cheetahs! When Ellie and I slipped off the bottom, we told Quinn and Dad that they could come down. I heard them climbing up the slide. They finally go to the top but Quinn was really scared. They both slid down the slide into the warm water below! We all agreed that it was so fun!
After, we went to a volleyball court that was a trampoline. The volleyball was connected to the net so it wouldn’t float away. Ellie and I were on a team and Quinn and Dad were on a team. Dad started by serving over the net. I hit the ball back to Quinn, and the ball landed on their side. “Yay!” I shouted. “One point for the girls!” I served over the net and Dad hit it back to Ellie! Ellie missed it and Quinn started cheering! We were tired. I was hoping that we would win! Quinn served the ball over the net and I hit it back to them. It landed on their side. “Yay!” I shouted again. “We WIN!” It was so much fun!
Next, we went to do the obstacles on the AquaSplash. There were 2 obstacles that we really like – the monkey bars and the trampoline with algae. First, we went to the monkey bars. The bars were attached to an inflatable arch. We all took turns trying to go across the bars! We all fell and never got across. Every time we fell, we landed in water because underneath, the bars were not covered. Next, we went to the trampoline covered in algae. We climbed onto the trampoline. The algae felt really weird! It was all slimy and gooey! “Ewwww!” I said. We jumped for about 5 minutes and then decided to get off because we kept slipping. It was amazing!!
Then, we went to the teeter-totter. It is a giant inflatable, well, teeter-totter! Dad, Quinn, Ellie and I swam over to it and we all tried to climb on it. We couldn’t, of course, so Dad tried to lift Ellie, but she just squirmed. Then he tried to launch Quinn, and he got on! Dad tried to lift me up onto it as well, but couldn’t because it was so high! I launched myself off of his hands and landed halfway onto the teeter-totter. “Ouch!” I screamed! Dad said, “Kirra, there are steps on the other side!” “Oh, well you could have said that before!” I smiled. I hopped up onto the steps and climbed onto the other side of the teeter-totter from Quinn. We bounced back and forth until we were dizzy! So fun!
Finally, we went to the mini splash area to go on the inflatable balance beam. We climbed on the balance beams that went around in a pentagonal shape. I was sort of nervous, I guess. I didn’t want to fall and have to climb back up out of the water! I carefully ran across the 1st beam! ‘Yay!” I made it! Then, I ran across two more beams and landed on the platforms with a THUD! I got back up and ran across two more! “Yay!” I shouted! “I made it across all the beams!” Every time Dad ran across a beam, he fell! Two minutes before our time was up on the AquaSplash, Dad made it across one of the beams! “Yay! Victory!” he shouted! Then our time was up and we swam off to the shore ready to tell mom all about our adventure!
I recommend the AquaSplash to people who are up for a challenge and who love to have fun! I rate this experience 100 stars out of 100 stars! It was AMAZING!!
